Golf is a target sport, so proper club and body alignment are key for accuracy. Today, I’ll show you how to improve your setup and ease swing mechanics using alignment sticks.
What to do with the alignment sticks
Pick a Target
Frame the Shot
Set the Stance
Step 1. Pick a Target: Stand behind the ball and choose a target where you want to hit
Step 2. Frame the Shot: While standing behind the ball lay 2 sticks on the ground parallel to each other. One stick will be pointed left of target. The other stick will be pointed right of target (see blue sticks in above video).
Step 3. Set the Stance: Using the 3rd alignment stick lay it on the ground at a right angle for stance guidance (see white stick in video). Your feet will be in line with the white stick and a sense of the right heel angling toward the white stick will create a stable foundation for your swing.
Summary
Before you start self-diagnosing the next swing flaw be sure your stance and alignment are in line with your target. Adjusting a setup can correct many perceived flaws.
